What is photo voice?
Photo voice is a presentation on an issue your student is passionate about and the presentation is centered on an image that captures this issue.
Some issues your student may be passionate about are: public transport, affordable housing, climate change, living wages, immigration laws, animal cruelty, etc.
How do I go about this?
Once students have chosen their topic, the next step is for them to choose a photo that represents this issue. This can be a picture they've taken themselves or have found online.
The student will use the picture to explain the issue they are passionate about and how this picture represents their topic.
Students can present in front of the class, record themselves, etc. This presentation can be given in any language or combination of languages.
What does this look like?
This can be a one slide assignment, or students can use additional slides to aid their presentation. Students can use the acronym SHOWED to answer some questions about their picture and guide their presentation.
